Abstract
In 2002, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention established the Laboratory Response Network (LRN) in order to prepare for and respond to bioterrorism. Since its establishment, the LRN has played a key role in implementing the national laboratory diagnostic system against biological threats. The LRN in Korea has been recently upgraded through the operation of a collaborative reference laboratory of international LRNs maintained by US CDC.
